The status quo of the prospects of the machining industry: transformation and upgrading of lean production

At present, as the leading industry of my country's national economy, the machining industry is still the main support for my country's economic growth. As an important support for economic and social development, the machining industry is the main channel of employment in my country's cities and towns and the concentrated expression of international competitiveness.  However, judging from the current performance, the development of China's machining industry is still far from the Western manufacturing powerhouses.

The road of lean reform and development in China's machining industry is frequently hindered and a long way to go.  As early as 1987, the report of the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development clearly put forward the concept of "sustainable development".  In this regard, the Chinese government has applied this concept to the specific practice of China's manufacturing transformation and upgrading based on its own development status, and proposed to transform the development mode to promote the improvement of development quality and efficiency, and to adjust and optimize the industrial structure to promote innovation.  Drive development, accelerate the improvement of various systems and mechanisms, properly respond to changes in the external environment, and promote long-term stable and healthy development.

Since the founding of New China, the development of China's mechanical processing industry can be roughly divided into three stages: The first stage is from the beginning of New China to the reform and opening up. This is the period when the mechanical manufacturing industry has formed a relatively independent and complete system.  The industry mainly exists in the form of commissioned processing and manufacturing (OEM): the second stage is the reform and opening up to the early 1990s. It is the transportation machinery (such as automobiles) and construction machinery (such as rotary drilling rigs) in China's mechanical processing industry.  The period of rapid development of traditional industries represented by R&D and design (ODM) is the main feature. The third stage started in the early 1990s. China’s machinery manufacturing industry has entered a period of structural adjustment and industrial upgrading in an open and competitive environment.  In the new era, the proportion of high-tech products has increased significantly, which is reflected in the characteristics of independent brands (OBM)

However, the severe economic situation has brought unprecedented problems to the manufacturing industry.  Implementing lean production transformation and upgrading, optimizing industrial structure adjustment, enhancing the vitality and stamina of the industry, and promoting the machinery manufacturing industry to embark on a lean development path with higher quality, more distinctive features, and more vitality. It is the machinery processing industry that enhances its competitiveness.  need.  At the same time, the machinery industry has exposed many problems after a period of rapid development in the past few years.  For a long time, domestic construction machinery companies have been seriously inadequate in their R&D platform construction capabilities and resource input, mainly relying on imitation and utilitarianism, resulting in excess equipment holdings and low-end production capacity.  Correspondingly, multinational companies are digging huge profits in the high-end products and small-capacity markets.  Under the pressure of the overcapacity market situation of construction machinery, lean transformation and upgrading has become the general trend of the industry.

Therefore, reducing costs, improving efficiency, implementing transformation and upgrading, enhancing competitiveness, and taking the road of lean reform are the needs of the machinery industry for self-revolution, the needs of the economic situation, and the needs of sustainable development.

The current, lean development path will continue to change.  The transformation and upgrading of my country's machining industry is of great significance and imminent.  As long as we follow the five development concepts of innovation, coordination, greenness, openness, and sharing, adhere to the sustainable development direction, and take the lean development path of transformation and upgrading, the machining industry will be able to become bigger and stronger, and the machinery manufacturing industry will be transformed from a production-oriented  Transition to production service, from extensive management to lean management, and from low-end manufacturing to high-end manufacturing.
